NIO Stream Power EV
Charger Station

The purpose of this individual project is to choose a brand, and to design an EV charger station for electric vehicles. According to my interest, I chose the brand NIO and decided to design a better EV Charger Station based on existing products of NIO.

Inspiration

By looking at the existing EV Charger of NIO, the handle of the charger does not have good ergonomics for users to use it with both hands. Therefore, I wanted to find a more effective and more comfortable way for both left-handed and right-handed users to hold the charger's handle in a better experience.

I made the prototype of handle to test the ergonomics so that I can make sure what shape of the handle can let both left-handed and right-handed users to use it more comfortably.

'Stream Power' EV Charger Station

NIO electric vehicle charger station is named as 'Stream Power'. The concept of this Stream Power EV Charger Station is the ease to use, simpleness and lightness. The charger handle combines ergonomics to match the shape of users' fingers. The handle also matches both right hands and left hands so that all the users can hold it comfortably. The blue LED strip around the handle shows the color of brand NIO. If the LED strip lights on, it means that the charger is charging. The station is placed on the wall and it is lighter than the standing EV station. The blue LED strip on the station also shows the color and style of NIO, and it will also be lighted up if the EV charger handle is placed. Over all, NIO Stream Power is a more qualified and effective product for electric vehicles.
